LEIGH JONES
Associate Attorney
Leigh Ashley Jones holds a B.A. in International Studies with a minor in Hebrew from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo Law School. She grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and has since lived in Cape Town, South Africa, Buffalo, New York, Atlanta, Georgia, and is now a resident of Maryland. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. She has worked at McDonough Law since July 2022.
Leigh is passionate about service and has volunteered for the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland in their estate planning clinic, at the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) in Raleigh, North Carolina, and as a mentor and tutor to refugee students at West Hertel Academy in Buffalo, New York. She also served as the Community Service Director for the Black Law Students Association at the University at Buffalo Law School.
Leigh is an active member of the D.C. Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA), the Family and Juvenile Law Section of the MSBA, the Bar Association of Montgomery County, and the Women’s Bar Association. She has been selected as a Rising Star for Super Lawyers Magazine for 2024 and 2025, an honor given to the top attorneys under 40 who have demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership in their practice. Prior to joining McDonough Law, Leigh practiced as an immigration attorney for three years in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Since receiving her Maryland law license in 2020, she has focused on family law cases and is dedicated to helping families resolve complex legal issues.
Leigh was elected to and graduated from the Bar Association of Montgomery County Leadership Academy in 2024. She is a Court Appointed Best Interest Attorney, an active participant in the Women's Bar Association, and a member of their mentorship program. She has also been elected to the Inns of Court organization for the Bar Association of Montgomery County. Leigh's application to be admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland has been approved, and she will be officially admitted in March 2025.
In her free time, Leigh enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and traveling.
