Native Californian and long-time resident of central Ohio, Ann Allen McDonough's legal practice consists of appeals, criminal defense, and probate cases.

A graduate of Whittier College, Ann graduated in the top third of her class at Thomas M. Cooley Law School. As a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Fairfield County Bar Association, and the Columbus Bar Association, Ann's legal interests include the appellate process as well as sentencing practices and standards. Ann also earned a Certificate in Litigation in conjunction with her J.D.

While at Cooley Law, Ann competed in the State of Michigan Moot Court Competition, and was winner of the Intra-School Moot Court Competition, Fifth Best Advocate in the First Year Intra-School Mock Trial Competition, and a quarter-finalist in the First Year Moot Court Competition. As a member of both the Mock Trial and Moot Court Boards, Ann contributed to the litigation training effort by serving as a judge in a number of moot court and mock trial competitions on campus. Ann continues her interest in litigation work, as exemplified by her participation as a judge in the recent Scarlet and Gray OSU Mock Trial Invitational in October 2006.

Ann served proudly as President of the Federalist Society chapter at Cooley Law, and was an active member of Phi Delta Phi, ATLA (the Association of Trial Lawyers of America,) Moot Court Board, and the Mock Trial Board. Ann also served as Editor in Chief of the Journal of Practical and Clinical Law, was an Ethics Fellow for the Center for Ethics and Responsibility, and worked as an editor for the Journal of Ethics and Responsibility. Ann also monitored a precinct in the 2004 Presidential elections, and has worked as a presiding precinct judge in her hometown, during Ohio's 2006 primary and general elections.

As an honors scholar and winner of the Thomas A. Brennan Leadership Scholarship, and nominee for Alumni Association Distinguished Student Award at Cooley Law, Ann also served as a law clerk at the Fairfield County Prosecutor's Office in Lancaster under the supervision of Gregg Marx, Assistant Prosecutor, and as a research assistant for Professor William Wagner at Cooley Law.

Ann is married to Gene, and has a step-son, Richard, a daughter in law, Jackie, and three daughters: Sarah, Caroline, and Laura. Ann loves to travel, is an active genealogist, and plays the piano whenever possible.
